Taking God Seriously

When the people asked God, “Do you want us to keep fasting as we’ve done for 70 years,” God responded with, “You were doing that for ME?” It’s as if he was completely unaware of or indifferent toward all their spiritual activity. It makes you wonder about the spiritual things we do. Are they really what is on God’s heart, or are they just things that are easy for us? The cool thing is that what’s really on God’s heart is not our “acts of righteousness,” but people. When we get serious about God, we should get serious about people!
