Animation 3: The Adulterous Woman – Life in the New Life

The religious leaders tried to trap Jesus by bringing before him a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. Would he withhold mercy and have her put to death, or would he show mercy and ignore the law? One response would put Jesus in a horrible light with the people, and the other would earn him the wrath of the leaders. The Pharisees and teachers of the law must have been beside themselves for so cleverly entrapping him. But Jesus was not so easily showed up. Not only did Jesus masterfully get out of this conundrum and spare her life, but he also called her into a new life where she could truly thrive. We should learn from this that life is not found in following our own desires and our old way of life, but life is found in following Jesus into the new way of life.
